Chinese New Year at Red Spice

I celebrated Chinese New Year in Okada with my sister’s best friend – Isa. We checked out the latest Chinese restaurant in the metro called Red Spice. It offers a combination of Cantonese and Northern Chinese cuisines. Here are some my observations to this new restaurant:

Red Spice
Dining Area
  1. It is still on its soft opening phase
  2. Service is a bit slow due to influx of people. Please note that this is the only restaurant in Okada currently open so it’s always full.
  3. Great Chinese inspired atmosphere but air condition was a bit low. Overall, the ambiance is ok.
with my friend – Isa Aquino

Here are some of the best items on their menu:

Crispy Spring Rolls with Mixed Vegetables
Mapo Tofu with Minced Pork in Sichuan Chili Bean Sauce
Steamed Pork Dumpling with Caviar
Cantonese-Style Congee with Traditional Condiments (Ginger and Spring Onions)

Because of the influx of people, some of the orders were not served on time. The restaurant manager decided to throw in some complimentary dessert:

Red Bean Mochi

Red Spice is located at Okada Manila, New Seaside Drive, Entertainment City, Parañaque. They are open everyday from 11 AM – 12 MN.

The verdict: It’s a HIT (in terms of flavor) but there can be some more improvements. I hope I can dine in again soon.

  4. Shame that some of the food did not arrive on time but at least the food was good! It is so nice that they gave you a complimentary dessert as well, I have tried coconut mochi but never red bean mochi. It looks delicious.

  5. The food does look delicious there. Although I am not sure if I would like the fact that I had to wait a long time. I imagine reservations might be difficult as well.

  6. Spring rolls are very popular here in my area, as are egg rolls. I was surprised to be told many years ago that most of the Chinese dishes I like aren’t actually Chinese, I don’t know if it’s true or not, I just eat what I like.

  7. The food does look amazingly delicious there. It would have to be worth the wait, due to service taking so long; but, I do understand the reason why.
