Food and Beverages: Adult Birthday Party Ideas

Everyone enjoys a good birthday party. If you happen to be the next party organizer, you probably want it to be memorable and unique. Food and beverages are one of the most important things at every party. So, if you really want to shine as a host, here are a couple of ideas on how to creatively prepare food and drinks for your adult birthday party.

What’s your favorite dinner?

Food ideas

Finger food

It’s not just for kid parties. Finger food is a great appetizer that’s both cheap and fancy. If you want something really fancy on the table, then go with prosciutto wrapped melon. Slice one melon into small cubes, and then wrap pieces of prosciutto around it. Just stick toothpicks into every chink and you’re done. Another quick finger food is cucumber with cheese and salmon. Slice a cucumber and put cream cheese and smoked salmon on top of it.

If you want a more casual appetizer, then put artichoke dip or hummus into a glass bowl. Or you can simply go with mini pizzas and mini quiches. Lastly, roasted vegetables and cheese will be equally good to get the appetite going.

Pick your favorite appetizers.

Make it about you

As it’s your birthday party, then the food should also be about you. You can celebrate your heritage through food. For example, if you’re Italian, then offer several types of pasta. If you’re Irish, then don’t skip corned beef hash and colcannon (Irish mashed potato dish). If your heritage is mixed, even better – you’ll have several dishes to combine.

Another way is to focus on the dishes you are really great at making. You don’t have to have a wide offer but your guests will enjoy your best-known specialties. Just make sure you make them in a bigger amount than usual.

Dazzle with desserts

Desserts are usually the best part when it comes to food, so you may want to give your guests more than one choice here. Chocolate fondue is always a sure thing. However, you can try melting several kinds of chocolate and put them into different bowls. Cookies can be served on a separate platter, while fruit with honey or without it) should also be one of the choices. This is the part where you don’t have to be the one making and arranging all those types of desserts. If that is too much of a hassle, you can always hire professionals, like the ones from Zest Patisserie and make sure your desserts are really one of a kind.

I like afternoon tea time!

The right beverages

Mason jar cocktails

They have been very popular lately. Party drinks simply look great if served in them. especially if you place them all on a bar. They really look attractive, especially if you add a personal detail like a tag, and very easy to handle. As they come with lids, you can also make some drinks in advance, like fruit teas or frozen daiquiris, and keep them frozen until the party starts.

Isn’t it refreshing? What’s your favorite drink?

Milk bottles

They also give a modern look to your birthday party. Add interesting straws to make it cuter and line them up alongside the bar, so that your guests can pour the drinks themselves. They are cheap and easy to find, and every drink will look more attractive when poured in them.

The service

You don’t have to waste time at your birthday party to make drinks. You can appoint a friend to be a bartender for the day; just make sure you stock up your pantry with the most popular juices and alcohol. An even simpler solution is to simply place different sorts of beer in a cooler and tell guests they can help themselves.

For those who don’t drink alcohol, you can make an exception – make virgin mojitos in advance. Crunch up mint and add it to lemon or lime soda and place the mix in a drink dispenser.

Ice cubes

Most drinks go better with ice cubes, but you can raise it to another level. You can use unusual molds for the ice and make it a theme, like flowers, grenades or shark fins. Have fun with it! You could also use flashing LED ice cubs to light up the drinks, which will really be awesome.

Final words

If you make an effort when it comes to food and beverages at your birthday party, you will definitely have a party to remember. Get creative and have fun!

That’s a very brilliant and cute idea, too! My sister is one of the few (because everyone in the family is a hard drinker!), so I guess I might just throw some cider beverages that she loves on the menu.
