Mindful Mouthfuls: A Thousand Meals for Education

In celebration of Fo Guang Shan Philippines’ 30th Anniversary, the foundation re-launches its flagship program on the promotion of environmental and spiritual wellness, the GO GREEN @ MABUHAY with this year’s theme on Mindful Mouthfuls: A Thousand Meals for Education. The program aims to bring together a thousand people to practice mindfulness in eating while supporting Fo Guang Shan’s education endeavors for the Filipino youth.

Proposed Building

Meaningful education is essential for the holistic growth of an individual. To aid in building a healthy learning environment for the students, FGS is constructing an educational facility, the future home of Guang Ming College in Tagaytay. All proceeds from this event will go to the construction project.

Mushroom Croquettes

We can use this simple and daily activity of eating as a start towards a more mindful and heedful living. Carefully choosing the food we put into our mouth is one way to develop our well-being as well as of our environment. Through this event, we welcome you to appreciate the taste of various vegetarian cuisines created by devotees and volunteers as well as from our vegetarian restaurant partners.

  1. What a fabulous way to combine the pleasures of eating with supporting the importance of education. Vegetarian cuisines are indeed both healthy and popular and having mindfulness of the benefits of this to us and the environment is a win for all concerned. Truly a great initiative to encourage people to support something that will be beneficial in the future through the college being built.

  2. I think this is so smart. Good meals help kids concentrate better on their studies, and living a mindful life helps add focus and calm, as well. This seems like a match made in Heaven.

  3. Very good initiative. I like veg cuisines and the benefits are tremendous. I support Go green and do my best to pursue it.

  4. Those Mushroom Croquettes look amazing, I don’t get why so many people avoid eating mushrooms, they are lush and soul food improves my mental health

  5. Eating for a good cause sounds perfect to me! Any time you involve food, you’re bound to attract more people which means more support.

  6. Food is our fuel. If we don’t have a healthy lifestyle, or even if we don’t eat,we cannot focus, cannot have a good education, if our kids are starving or if our bodies are not filled.

  7. This looks like a great fundraising campaign. It would not only introduce participants to healthy and delicious meals, but it will also fund a greater cause.

  8. I will be honest I actually avoid mushrooms. I love all of these vegetarian options!

  9. I love this a mix of food and also mindfulness ideas. I could just eat those chips right now xx

  10. Fresh, homemade fries are one of my favorite indulgences. They’re so much better than the frozen junk you get at most restaurants.

  11. Very cool initiative. Being mindful of what we eat will definitely help us be more healthy as well as the kids we teach!
