My Hey Sugar Challenge

As an athlete, it’s inevitable that you’ll be safe from sweating due to strenuous physical activities. I had this challenge in my mind. What if I shave or wax my legs? Will it affect my performance and overall well-being? Waxing is one of the best methods for removing excess hair on your body, particularly your legs. Recently, I discovered a wellness stop that would cater for your waxing needs – Hey Sugar!

During one of my tennis matches sporing my Vollaix tennis kit and TenxPro racket.

Hey Sugar is a waxing salon created to answer all your organic and all natural waxing needs. They use certified organic products that devoid the use of harmful chemicals and toxins that causes skin irritation. It is a waxing hub that keeps client’s privacy and provides professional services.

One of the key benefits of waxing regularly is the amount of time it saves. After waxing, the hair removal outcomes usually last about three to four weeks, which means you can take shaving out of your daily routine. It also causes your hair to grow less and fine over time.

Post waxing care is very important for those newly hair free legs. Since you’ll be prone to irritation, it is important to put antibacterial cream or wash it with soap after 8 hours. A lotion rich in Vitamin E is also essential to help calm the inflammation.

Did you know that waxing is not limited for women? More and more guys are requesting waxing services to common hairy areas such as armpits, legs, chests and backs. So I took the Hey Sugar challenge. It was my second time waxing my legs. Yes, second time. The first one was way back 2010 when my sister dared me to wax my legs. Here are some of the photos during my visit to Hey Sugar Glorietta:

At the start of each service, the skin is prepped through gentle cleansing of the skin using specially formulated in house ethyl alcohol made from pure sugar cane. Cornstarch is then applied to help get rid of extra oil and gives extra protection. The 100% sugar wax is then poured. It is finished off with the application of Virgin Coconut Oil to help soothe the skin and lessen the irritation. The aestheticians are very well trained and courteous.

As a precaution, you should stay away from direct sunlight up to a week after waxing. Moisturize every day. It helps soften the growing hair and keep it from boring into the skin.

Isn’t it pretty?

Still up for the challenge? Visit any branch near you. They are open from 10 AM – 9PM on weekdays and 10 AM – 10 PM during weekends. For more information, please visit heysugar.com.ph and follow their official social media pages:

  1. Wow good for you going to have your legs waxed – ouch! The Hey Sugar salon looks nice and comfy and colourful which I love!

  2. I tried it once and it hurt too badly, but it could’ve been the salon I went to. The salon you went to looks nice, and the technique you had definitely wasn’t my experience so that could be part of it, too. Did it hurt much?

  3. Hey Sugar Waxing Salon has a cute little waiting area but the parts I like are you don’t have to get all undressed and that they are as far from chemicals as can be. Coconut oil is an awesome substitute as are the rest

  4. I have never tried waxing but would certainly go for organic products and less touch with harmful chemical and toxins which may lead to skin sensitive. Glad to learn about the post waxing care here too. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I love Hey Sugar! It’s my go-to waxing salon. The staff is really nice and friendly. Highly recommended.

  6. It sounds as though it would be very painful to have hair pulled out by waxing. I guess it didn’t hurt that much though.

  7. I like the salon very much and their interior is delightful. Love how clean they are and really nice. 🙂 I was very surprised to see that some men also do waxing, mostly some athletes due to having regular massages, so they need to be hair free. 😀

  8. Ha! Good on ya! I can’t handle waxing because it normally irritates my skin. But I’m searching for a local spot like this that uses non-harsh toxins to see if it helps!

  9. This sounds like a fabulous technique for hair removal! Not having to shave daily would be absolutely awesome!

  10. This place looks really awesome, the decor is super sweet and I love that the products are organic and natural too. It looks like they did a great job.

  11. Oh my gosh you’re so brave! I’ve never waxed anything before, not even my eyebrows. Sounds like a great place to go though.

  12. I get my eyebrows waxed at least three times a week. I don’t know if I can get my legs waxed it look so painful. I’ll have to try it one of these days, it will save a lot of time.

  13. I love the decor there! I want to try to get a near full body wax.. but have been told i need to start small lol.. maybe a leg wax should be first?

  14. I love that they use all-natural ingredients! Waxing involves letting things sit on your skin and ripping out hair by the roots. The last thing you want is chemicals getting into irritated folicles.

  15. I’ve been doing laser treatment on my body for hair removal on and off since 2013, but prior to that, I had been watching since I was 8 years old!

  16. i’ve only had my eyebrows waxed a couple times and that sure hurt so i cannot even imagine your legs. so brave! i do like the decor of the salon though – very cute and inviting.

  17. Thats good you got a good salon. The products used are organic and hence good for health.

  18. The Hey Sugar Salon looks great! I’ve never been brave enough to get my legs waxed though! Getting my eyebrows done is enough for me lol
