With a wide variety of options and its appealing features, Nepal has become a hot spot for trekking and adventure-activities. Here are the top 5 reasons to choose Nepal as a trekking destination:

Have you ever tried trekking yet?

1. Wide Options for Treks

Trek is a matter of many options that are available in terms of duration and destination, as well as the difficulty level. Nepal presents many options that are appealing to people of all preferences. There are short treks with less time available, like Short Treks to Tengboche in Everest and treks to Ghorepani and Poon Hill in the Annapurna, as well as long treks that take relatively more time to complete and cover more area, like the Everest Renjo La Pass Trek and the Gokyo Lake Trek in the Everest. There are easy trekking options, as well as strenuous ones. Trekkers can opt for treks that suit them the best; the duration and the routes of the treks can also be changed and arranged according to one’s needs as well.

2. Home of the Himalayas

Trekking is always filled with amazing Himalayan views. The backdrop of the snowy mountain peaks are an evanescent presence in all of the trekking adventures in the country. It is a great way to enjoy the Himalayan ambiance of Nepal as the trekking trails are always blessed with the mountain-tapestry that decorates the skyline. The towering peaks at different locations of the trekking destination bring their own charm and magnificence to the adventure.

3. Cultural Diversity

Nepal is a multicultural country. It has many ethnic groups that reside in the mountains. Trekking in Nepal presents the opportunity to experience the cultural diversity of Nepal. It is a great way to learn about the unique customs and traditions of the people and their way of life in the Himalayas. For example, the famous Everest Base Camp Trek is a great way to learn about the Sherpa culture of the Khumbu. Likewise, the Annapurna region is home to ethnic Rai, Magar and Limbu people. Similarly, the Upper Mustang Trek presents a beautiful hidden world of the Tibetan Buddhism culture of Lo Manthang.

4. Natural Diversity

The natural diversity of Nepal is tremendous. The topographical difference in Nepal has resulted in many biospheres that harbor unique flora and fauna. Trekking in Nepal perfectly combines the natural environment with the trekking journey. Many treks also occur within national parks as well and go through natural wonders, like the Rara Lake Trek in the Annapurna, the Langtang Valley Trek in Langtang and the Gokyo Lake Trek in Everest. Treks in Nepal are always paired with the location’s best geographical features.

Did you know that Nepali Chicken Dumplings are popularly called as Momo?

5. Year-round trekking options

Trek in Nepal can be done all the year round. The best time to do treks in Nepal is during the months of March to May and September to December. March to May is the spring season in Nepal, while September to December experiences the autumn season. These two seasons are also known as the peak trekking seasons in Nepal because of the large number of visitors to the country during these times. However, summer and winter treks can also be done, albeit being low-altitude trekking as high-altitude trekking isn’t ideal. Upper Mustang Trek, Dolpo Trek and Rara Lake Trek are all good options for summer and winter trekking in Nepal.
