The world is filled with beautiful places. Yes, some might be more beautiful than others, but then again, it is the general feel of the city that makes you like it, not only the landmarks that you get to see there or the natural beauties that it offers. This is why it’s safe to say that every single place on Earth is pretty in its own way. But even so, there are places that are more popular than others. Why is that? What’s the thing that makes a city very popular with tourists? Well, it is exactly that special feel, that city X factor that it holds. Sydney is just one of those places as not even one person returned home from without loving it. So, let’s see what is so special about this Australian pearl?
1. The weather is amazing
The weather always plays a very important role in choosing your favorite city. Some people do enjoy the occasional cold and always turn to chilly places in Europe, such as Norway or Finland, but most people actually like dipping their toes into the ocean or the sea. Well, Sydney is one of the places where you will be able to do the latter, as not only does it have amazing beaches, but the weather is always amazing. Sydney is the best of both worlds – it is mostly sunny and hot, but it can get chillier in certain months which can very well serve as a short break from the heat and a perfect time to bundle up and watch your favorite TV show while sipping tea. No worries, this will not take long!
2. The crazy nightlife
Even though this is something that every big city has, the nightlife in Sydney really is something else. First of all, no matter what time you go out, you will be able to find a place to dance the night away, or simply drink cocktails or beers sitting at the counter. If you’re a girl, you might be able to find great stripper clubs for guys, which also applies to men – if you want to have a crazy good bachelor night, hit a strip club in Sydney and see the beauties (pun intended) Sydney has to offer. On the other hand, you will find a plethora of underground parties, if this is something up your alley.
3. The waterfront restaurants
It is not every city that can say they have this. Sydney is one of the few places in the world that really pays a lot of attention to its waterfront, so if you find yourself there, do not miss out on eating dinner at one of its amazing waterfront restaurants. Bear in mind, though, that these are very popular, so you might have to book a table in advance. If not, however, you will be able to find one table in one of the restaurants (fingers crossed). Another option is to simply take a walk by the water – it might sound boring and uneventful at this very moment, but it is definitely worth trying it out.
4. The people
Aussie people are really amazing. Take a look at the celebrities firstly – Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, Chris Hemsworth… all of these seem so incredibly friendly and nice. And they probably are, because people from Australia are really great. People from Sydney are even more so as they tend to see plenty of tourists on a daily basis, and they will not have any issues helping you out. Who knows, perhaps you find your next true love here?
5. The laid-back attitude
One of the most important things to consider before visiting a place is how laid-back that nation is. It never feels good to go to a nice city where people are very stuck up and negative, right? Well, everything in Sydney is laid-back. Starting from people to the general atmosphere of the city. After all, why wouldn’t they be laid-back? They have the sun, they have the ocean, they have the surfing. Oh, yes, surfing. If you’re a lover of the laid-back attitude and you want to try out something new, do not miss out on the opportunity to surf, or at least see some of the best surfers of the city doing their magic.
You have probably thought you would see the landmarks on this list, such as the Sydney Opera House. But is that really the reason people love Sydney? Perhaps. But the landmarks are also the things tourists will see on their first day, and they will not really have the right picture of what Sydney is really like. Try to get closer to people, go out, explore as much as you can. If you do this, you will see that this place is like no other place in the world.
