5 Best Ways to Raise Money for Charity

Even the good guys and helpers need some help at times. Often, charity organizations and charitable individuals are left without any ideas on how they can raise the necessary money or how to bring a good campaign to an even better end.

There are different ways to raise money for charity.

The importance of a quality work environment is often understated, when it comes to the impact it could have on the team as well as the money that could be raised. Having a comfortable and creatively engaging workspace can help attract both supporters and talented staff. An effective non-profit or charity organization looks for potential clients or partners who might be interested in their mission. This is where choosing a workspace like Ethical Property, for example comes to play. Such workspaces bring like-minded people together in one place, helping you collaborate and hence, amplify the change you are trying to make. However, if you or your organization struggle to rally people to write those checks, you might need ideas on how to engage people in an easy, quick, and effective way. Here are the five best ways to raise money for charity:

Set up a fundraising dinner

One of the best and most effective ways to raise funds and bring life back into your cause is to organize a fundraising dinner. This even will definitely open up some wallets, but what’s even better about it, is it will give members of the organization a chance to mingle with supporters, staff, and volunteers. It’s a great way to renew people’s commitment to the mission and have a lot of fun in the process. Some charities hold annual dinners which are celebrated as festive events which promote a good cause. Pro tip: don’t forget what your fundraising dinner is all about. Sure, you need to throw a memorable event, but raising money should be your main goal, so plan how to get people to write checks.

Organize a cook-off

Everyone loves good food, so why not use your local dishes to raise some money for your organization? You can encourage your supporters and foodies in your local community to participate in a cook-off or just bring their favorite local dishes and treat event-goers with something amazing for their taste buds. In order to raise money during this culinary event, you can charge people to taste the dishes and even vote for the best chef. This event will get everyone involved and attract a large audience for a night of fun and good food. Everyone will immediately associate your charity with a good time!

Are you ready to be the next Bobby Flay or Ina Garten?

Throw a trivia night

If you ever attended a trivia quiz night at a bar, you know how seriously some people take this super fun event (they are popular from the States to East Asia). You can contact your local café, pub or restaurant and have a night out dedicated to a worthy cause. If you can’t gather in public due to COVID-19, you can take your quiz online! You might also consider signing up on sites like Vwin, where you can bet and potentially make some quick cash which could then be used for charity purposes. To actually raise money, charge a registration fee for teams and entrance/spectator fee for spectators. The winning team can get a chance to donate their reward to your charity or the charity of their choice. If they don’t know where to aim their money, you can provide them with a few reliable choices. For instance, there’s a trusted Hong Kong charity working towards helping cancer patients even during the pandemic. Put it on your list of charities and people are guaranteed to donate.

Organize a sporting event

Difficult sporting events are always a great way to raise money, so organize a fundraising sponsored marathon or a swimming competition. You can hire an event organizer or do this yourself (both have pros and cons), but if you decide to organize your event by yourself, all the profits will go towards your cause. Some sponsored sporting events people organized are London-Paris bike rides, La Manche swimming and mountain climbing expeditions. There are even virtual events you can do right from your living room or backyard. Make sure you take care with decoration, this is important to make people want to get involved. Maybe add a little prize for the winner like some nice cakes or some beers. You can get a commercial flagpole or two so that you can display national flags. When competing for your country is involved you are more likely to strive to win! This will get everyone involved!

Virtual events are in right now!

Host an auction

Hosting an auction is a great way to get people together, either in real life or virtually. These events are not very easy to organize, since you need a speaker, people to provide items to be auctioned off and staff to make it all happen, but the profits for your charity can be huge. This type of event can even be organized at school for kids and parents! You can encourage members of the organization, donors and community members to give things they don’t need and get them auctioned off. If you manage to sell everything, you can raise tens of thousands of dollars in only one night!

There are so many creative ways to raise money for your charity, but these listed above usually work pretty well. At the end of the day, everyone will end up happy and fulfilled thanks to your engagement and effort.

  5. These are all really good fundraising ideas. I have been involved with all of them over the years and with different organizations. I found the auction one to be the most profitable by far, but also the most time, labor, and volunteer intensive.
