I happened to pass by one of the best healthy eating cafes in BGC area – Nomi Cafe. Of course, I want to have my own matcha experience and try their best offerings. I was really curious on how they will play with matcha on their dishes. Indeed, it did pass my expectations. Healthy, delicious, and very affordable curated food choices right in the middle of Bonifacio Global City!
The business was started by three young innovative entrepreneurs (Mike Jiang, Také Hosomi, and Asuka Hosokawa) from Japan who wanted to bring the beauty and joy of modern Japanese casual cafe from all over the world. The three founders loved cafe hopping, absorbing the creativity and environment of the places they travel to. Nomi was born as the culmination of their gastronomic experiences and the best of modern Japanese cafes from Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo to name a few.
Did you know that Nomi in Japanese means “to drink.”
Nomi sticks to its roots of showcasing authentic Japanese comfort food. Recently, Nomi has added a modern twist by bringing in the authentic Brazilian acai with their celebrity business partner Fabio Ide. With the addition of acai, Nomi created healthy dessert bowls that are sugar free, sweetened with natural sweeteners and fruits – making the dessert totally guilt free! Nomi also created healthy power bowls for meals – high quality protein, fresh vegetables, with real Japanese rice; the rice can be substituted for brown rice or cauliflower rice for those who want to take their fitness goals to the next level!
Here’s my take on the dishes I tried during my visit:
Matcha Fantasy is a six layered matcha dessert with adzuki, coconut and special matcha mousse. I was surprise that it was so sweet and you can’t really taste the bitter properties of matcha. Well balanced and palatable. As they say, matcha is acquired taste for some people. It did captured my heart (and tummy!). This one is a HIT for me.
Nomi Style Cheesecake was indeed a treat for me. It was complemented by Grade A matcha powder on the side and topped with red bean icing. It was a bit subtle and not too dense. It’s perfect with any matcha infused smoothies or coffee. This one is a HIT for me.
I also tried one of their newest offerings – Katsudon which is composed of Japanese rice topped with deep fried pork cutlet, onion and egg cooked in sweet dashi broth. I paired it with Matcha Energize! which is a combination of freshly brewed espresso and matcha goodness. Both are HITS for me.
I can totally recommend Nomi Cafe to my health buff friends. If you’re into healthy living while not compromising good taste, this is the place to dine at. They also have a competitive price range and great hospitable service to their customers. I’ll definitely go back!
Nomi Cafe is located at W City Center, 7th avenue corner 30th street, BGC, Taguig city. They are open from 11 am to 12 mn. To know more about the brand, check out their official social media pages:

I couldn’t stop eating the match ice cream! I am very jealous of what you got to eat!

So our tagalog word Inom is rearranged as nomi in Japanese for the same meaning, that’s interesting!

I only ever tried matcha once. It was in tea, and I hated it. A friend of mine told me that it might not have been prepared properly, though. I’d love to try these dishes. if it’s all about the preparation, then that cake is worth a try.

Katsudon for the win! Can’t get enough of that delicious rice bowl. I will be going to BGC next week for a doctor’s appointment. I will drop by Noni afterwards. I am sure that would make me feel better after waiting in line for over an hour at the doctor’s office.
I haven’t had matcha in a lot of things so this is interesting to me! If I am ever in the area, I will have to check out this cafe!
