Enjoying a nice glass of wine or a pint of cold beer with your best friends is a part of the fun just as much as socializing with your friends is. However, sometimes, you just don’t know what you should order next to so many amazing drinks on offer. With that in mind, here are eight drinks you should definitely try the first chance you get.
Lambic
Even if you’re not a fan of beer, this is the one type that you would definitely love. It’s fizzy, fruity, tangy, and very sweet, since it is made of some of the finest fruit juices. The only downside of this fantastic drink is that it can be a bit harder to find. However, when you do manage to get your hands on it, it’s definitely worth the price, as you’re guaranteed to fall in love with it at first sip.
Sake
Sake is Japanese plum wine, and for many people, it’s one of the tastiest drinks out there. It can be served both cold and hot, depending on the season of the year, the quality of the drink, and your personal preferences. For example, high-quality sake is rarely drunk hot because the heat would destroy the drink’s flavors. It’s very popular in Japan, and it’s usually served with sushi and steak.
Schnapps
Schnapps is most popular in Austria and Germany, but you’ve probably heard of it as well. It is a fruit brandy, but what makes it stand apart from other fruit brandies, is that in its country of origin, it’s usually made from apples, pears, apricots, and cherries. If you ever find yourself in the area, look for Obstbrand or Obstler – the most popular types, which you should taste.
Irish Whiskey
If you ever get a chance to try Irish Whiskey, do not pass on that opportunity. Many people consider it to be the best whiskey in the world, and it’s not hard to see why once you get a sip of this fine liquor. You can find it in almost every pub in Ireland, or you can visit one of the many distilleries and learn more about this amazing drink too.
Grappa
Grappa is a grape-based brandy of Italian origin. However, it is so popular nowadays, that it can be found in almost every part of the world. Australian made grappa, for example, is just as delicious – if not even more – than its Italian counterpart. Its flavor depends on the type of grapes used and the distillation process itself, but one thing is for sure – once you try it, you will fall in love with it.
Sherry
There are many amazing drinks that come from Spain, but one of the most famous ones is definitely sherry. There are many different varieties that come in just as many different flavors, so you are bound to find one that would fit your personal taste.
Absinthe
This anise-flavored spirit originated in Switzerland, and it’s actually banned in many countries due to its potential hallucinogenic properties. It’s highly alcoholic, which is why it’s often diluted with water before consumption. With all that in mind, it’s a perfect drink for a bit more adventurous drinkers.
Mojito
You can’t have a party without cocktails, and Mojito is one cocktail that you should definitely taste. It’s made of white rum, lime juice, sparkling water, brown sugar, and crushed mint leaves, so it’s quite a refreshing drink that would spice up any fiesta.
If you know how to appreciate a nice glass of quality liquor, consider some of the above-mentioned suggestions. Who knows, you might find your favorite drink among those, if you don’t have one already.

As a lover of alcoholic beverages in moderation, I love this post. Alcohol is an interesting drink. It can be vastly different in flavor, color, and overall feel based on how it’s made and what ingredients are used.
I am saving this list! I will definitely try all these! Thank you for sharing!
These are all great drink recommendations. Only one I’ve never even heard of! Thanks for the recommend!
You have great taste in drinks! There’s a couple….ok, more than a couple…that I’ve tried. The ones I haven’t I’ll have to give them a whirl!
Not an alcohol drinker, but it is interesting to see the variety that they have out there
Mojitos are one of my favorite drinks to order. Also I would love to try absinthe that would be interesting!
We have some Japanese restaurants around here that squirt sake into you mouth as they cook hibachi. I have never been brave enough to participate but the thought it really cool.
Loving this post! The classic mojito is bar far my fave! Definitely saving this post!
I am not a drinker, but if I was, this list sounds like it would hit all the bases. You did a great job on making a diverse list.
Can’t ever go wrong with a mojito in the summer time! Love this drink but the Lambic is what I’m definitely want to try since I’m not so crazy about beer. It sounds amazing.
I have tried all of them! My least favorite is Sake..and I still like it! LOL
Wow! Gusto ko sila matikman lahat..
Gusto ko din matikman to
I’ve had a few of these, and a few are still on my list. I love exploring alcoholic beverages. They’re all so different.
I don’t drink alcohol but this looks like a great list of drinks to try.
These are some really great drinks to have with friends also. I have been hesitated to try sake as I have no idea what it is. Your description makes it sound delicious and fruity. I will give sake a try next time I visit a Japanese restaurant.
There are a few more not listed that I would like to try as well. this is an awesome place to start!
Those are some amazing suggestions. I’ve drank some of them already in the past and I’d love to try the others but I can’t especially while I’m pregnant.
I’ve really been wanting to try Absinthe! I love the old stories about it in the Prohibition era, and even though it’s near impossible to get your hands on true Absinthe nowadays, how cool would it be to try?
Lambic and sake are two fun names that I’d love to try to drink before I am done on this Earth. I love this list of drinks you should try at least once in a lifetime. I appreciate this list of ideas for drinks that I have honestly never heard of before.
Mojitos are amazing. I can’t drink anymore due to a heart condition but I used to love them.
I’ve tried Sake and a Mojito before and the Mojito was really good. I think you have to have an acquired taste for the Sake though. I haven’t tried the others on the list.
Love your post and suggestions. As a person who drinks occasionally, I love to try out new drinks. Next time will know what to try out other than mojito and margarita.
